ü Since 1992, PAVE has invested more than $27 million in scholarships that have had a profound effect on more than 17,000 low-income families in Milwaukee.
ü Only 41% of City of Milwaukee high school students will graduate on time with their peers, as opposed to a statewide rate of 80%, according to a recent report. 100% of the 2008 PAVE Class graduated on time from college preparatory schools.
ü At least 72% of PAVE Alumni enroll in college--surpassing their low-income and middle-income peers.
ü PAVE Scholarship Alumni are 37% more likely to enroll in college than students in the lowest income category.
ü Milwaukee continues to have a significant shortage of college-educated workers. Research indicates that college graduates, educated in their own home states, choose to live in their home states after college. 86% of PAVE Alumni enroll in Wisconsin colleges and universities.
ü Today there are more low- income students seeking a traditional college preparatory education than can be accommodated in the seats available in City of Milwaukee college preparatory high schools, either Choice or public. College preparatory high schools outside the City of Milwaukee are not eligible to participate in the Milwaukee School Choice Program. Therefore, PAVE scholarship support for City of Milwaukee students is essential in allowing access to these schools and a pathway to college.
ü In 2007-2008, every low-income family eligible for PAVE scholarships received financial assistance. To achieve this goal in 2008-2009, PAVE must raise $1 Million.
ü Families of students receiving PAVE scholarships make great financial sacrifices to pay their share of tuition, and are grateful for the generous spirit of our partners.
